🧩 Autism & Neurodiversity Takeaways

What went well? We are loving seeing the changes in our routines and kids. Whereas they used to gravitate to their tablets, they’re making the choice to spend time outside and exploring. We are seeing them pace themselves – to take time away or alone as needed. It’s exactly what I hoped and prayed for!

What challenged us? Time Management. We are trying to find what works best. Do we let the kids stay up late, and get up early ourselves for dedicated work time? Or do we expect the same schedules from everybody.

What did we learn this month? So much! Our time at Firefly Hills RV Park gave us new insight into so much – including ghosts! Also challenged ourselves to think more about inclusivity and accessibility, sustainability and environmental impact.

Any wins worth celebrating? Yes!!! We have gone away from survival mode, and are enjoying cooking on the road, and thinking about what we put into our bodies.

🚐 RV Life Lessons

Something we learned about RV living this month: space will always be a challenge! Organization is great, but things always change.

A mistake we made: allowing our kids to sleep until noon – too far off Mom and Dad’s schedule

A tip for other families: challenge yourself to think of what works for you, not society in general.

Something that surprised us: how much we enjoy an area to play versus a dedicated play area. Jellystone was fun, and enjoyed, but Firefly Hills speaks to us more.

📅 Looking Ahead

Next stop: St. Louis to see the Arch – if we ever leave our current campground.

What we’re excited about: new places none of us have ever seen

What we’re nervous about: pulling the camper. We’ve been down too many backroads with it lately, but are hoping to plan more interstate drives for the next bit.

Final Thoughts

One thing this week reminded us about finding calm in the chaos: allow yourself to go outside of what you expect from yourself. I thought I’d like the city activities more, and I’m loving the nature excursions
