🧩 Autism & Neurodiversity Takeaways

What went well? So much. Probably the biggest take away is the social aspect. Before leaving, we talked about how this was a good opportunity to talk to people, to ask questions, and to learn from them. I think my kids (autistic and not) have anxiety of what people will think about them. On this trip, I told them this is a great time to get to know people without the anxiety of the long term relationship

What challenged us? Space. No doubt on this answer. We still struggle. The boys share a bunk room, and it’s usually just one child in the bunk room to have his space. The other two – with me in my bedroom. Their dad is currently spending extra time on the couch.

What did we learn this month? How to clean the toilet seat with clorox wipes. Seriously. I’m sharing a camper bathroom with four boys. They are finally learning I won’t tolerate dribbles on the seat or floor.

Any wins worth celebrating? So many. The boys tubing in the river. The hikes in the Cumberland region in Tennessee. So much more intentional time outside and learning – and less on the tablets

🚐 RV Life Lessons

Something we learned about RV living this month: there’s a reason you need to use septic/rv toilet paper

A mistake we made: thinking our dog could be offleash with farm animals.

A tip for other families: things will never be perfect. Take the wins, learn from the challenges

😂 Quote of the Month

Favorite thing a kid said: Bud Bud will eat peanut butter off your toes

Funniest moment:

🌟 Unexpected Blessings

Something that surprised us: how hard it is to leave some places. Especially the farms. My kids get so attached to the animals

Someone we met: Sassy the horse at Our Little Farm. I’ll remember her as my son’s BFF

A moment we’re thankful for: family time around the fire at night

📅 Looking Ahead

Next stop: Kentucky to see Mammoth Caves

What we’re excited about: exploring!

What we’re nervous about: we will be in places none of us have ever visited, while we are excited, we are a little nervous about navigating this.
